Liz help me so much, I am a volunteer at a dog shelter in Kalamazoo and we purchased a glass display case for our family room. To display our merchandise to sell, helping to support the shelter. I needed someone to help load it into the rescue truck so we could bring it home and Liz got us 2 men to load it for us. in short notice...one day!!! The guys took time to shrink wrap the case and shelves., making a safe trip back to Kalamazoo. With out Liz helping out I don't know how we would have gotten it loaded... We really appreciate your help Liz and if I know anyone needing your help I will give them your number.... Thanks again....

Hi Liz,

Just a note of gratitude for the outstanding job you and your team did in moving Arnold this week. I was amazed when I stopped by the apartment in the early afternoon and it was nearly complete right down to the refrigerator magnets - what meticulous excellence! The genuine smiles on all the family members as they toured Arnold's new home truly said it all. Thanks so much for the integral role in creating an exceptional exerience for Arnold.

Sincerely,
Joel Ruiter

Ten out of Ten! I cannot recommend Liz and her Team enough. Anyone can move furniture, but few can handle the emotional aspect of moving the elderly away from home. The calm assertiveness during the planning and the actual moving made a highly charged situation a non-event. Living across the country, I relied on Liz to handle every aspect of moving my 86 year old, wheel-chair bound father to assisted living. His room was set up beautifully and the transition was as easy as it good be. At the same time, Liz's prior social work background eased the anxiety my mom was feeling about being left behind in the house. The attention to detail and service is extraordinary. My advice is DO NOT try to tackle this yourself. Your parents will thank you for having the experts involved.

Be smart and relax with Seniors Moving Smarter!
Seniors Moving Smarter was the smartest choice I could have made. Their key word was relax and relaxed I was from start to finish. Each moment from the first item packed to the finished unpacking and beautiful creativity of hanging my pictures was filled with efficiency and thoughtful caring.

Moving someone with dementia is never easy. Instinctively the place we call ‘home’ feels safe and we want to be there even when it may not be in our best interest. As the point person at Porter Hills, I share how living at a community like ours can really be a positive experience. I’ve seen many people who struggled at home make great transitions into our community. There are people who wait until the dementia is so advanced, however, that they cannot see the positive reasons for a move…not at all.

I get asked by family members each day, “When should I move my parent…” This question can get a different answer based on the individual circumstances, however, when it comes to those with memory difficulty – if it is feasable, I say ‘the sooner the better’. If you wait too long, the transition can be that much harder all the way around.

Liz and I just worked together in a scenario like this and moved “Janice” to Porter Hills. Janice was living at home, wandering over to the neighbors to find out the time or day…scared at night in a large home all alone. She has no immediate family in the area and only through the goodness of a friend did she even have the chance to come and visit and move to our community.

In a situation where the friend did not have the opportunity or the resources to coordinate a move for Janice, I recommended Liz and her team. Janice was incapable of choosing furniture or items from her home as her dementia has affected her reasoning ability. Liz came in and surmised the home situation – analyzing and being “in tune” to Janice’s habits and favorite things just through a careful look around. Janice was very adverse to the move, but Liz handled it with grace and forged ahead. Many folks in Liz’s situation would have just ‘given up’ because it was such a mountain to climb.

Liz’s social work skills really shined -- advising Janice’s friends how to continue to move forward in the midst of crisis. Not only did she get everything comfortably arranged for Janice, Liz shared some of Janice’s habits and rituals with our staff so we could do our best to make her feel safe and comfortable. Making a move later in life is so much more than changing locations…it’s about the people, situational and family dynamics, its about being understanding and compassionate. Bringing experience, skills and compassion to this process is what Liz and her team do best.

Pam and I can highly recommend Liz for her services to seniors (and family) She is knowledgeable, friendly and thorough. She's also great at making things come together fast - (as in, when your head is spinning and you can't make up your mind because your family can't decide what will fit where). We enjoyed working with her and her team and can say that the experience was quite pleasant.

Thank you so much for all of the services you provided for my parents in making the move to their new apartment at Independence Village in Petosky. My parents are relieved to have been able to move into such a thoughtfully arranged and comfortable new home. I especially appreciate your organized and professional system for making this move happen. I know that my sister and brother and I would have been overwhelmed, frustrated and exhausted trying to accomplish what you were able to do so efficiently. Thank you.

Sincerely,
Marti MacArthur

Dear Liz,

I want you to know how very much I appreciate all the work you have done helping my mother move from her house to her new apartment. You and Carl have been wonderful throughout the process. The apartment looks beautiful and your decorating skills really create a place that incorporates much of her favorite furniture and pictures into a cohesive and warm setting.

Being an only child and living in another state, I had been very concerned about how to help my mother organize and downsize from her larger home to a modern, but smaller apartment. Finding your firm and being able to communicate with you throughout the last two months has been a welcome relief. You have been able to establish a lovely relationship with my mother that helped her make difficult decisions on what to transfer and what to leave behind. I think that process would have been more difficult for her and I to do together, and I am grateful for your kindness, grace and expertise.

If we ever need services like this again, we’ll know who to call.

Thank you,

Wendy Greeney

We hired Simply Moving Seniors to pack and unpack us. They also supervised the movers so that furniture went where we wanted it to go. They unpacked everything and put all the stuff away, then carted away all the boxes and packing stuff. They even made our bed and hung pictures for us. It was worth every penny we paid them. And, after all, if we had the movers pack us, we would have had to pay them for the service as well as pay for their boxes. Liz provides her own packing materials and recycles it. Every member of her team came with a helpful, professional attitude which make working with them a pleasure.

I can't say enough about how pleased our residents have been with the services of Seniors Moving Smarter! One of our newest residents recently told me about their experience with Liz and her team. They had lived in their home for 38 years and the thought of moving and downsizing was daunting at best. Liz and her team helped them plan for their new space at Waterford Place so they were sure to have space for their most treasured belongings, right down to installing a plate rail for a special collection of tea cups, etc. The homeowners watched in amazement as the team from SMS came in and carefully and thoughtfully packed their belongings with tremendous efficiency. They couldn't believe how quickly they were packed! When they walked into their home at Waterford Place a few hours later they found everything arranged just as they had planned, the bed made, boxes removed, and the special collection of tea cups tastefully displayed on the plate rail! Thank you Seniors Moving Smarter for taking the anxiety out of their move!

When I finally persuaded my ninety-year-old mother to move from her condo in suburban Detroit to a retirement community in Grand Rapids, I didn't quite know how I was going to pull it off--I only knew that I had a little over a month to do so. Laurie at Sentinel Pointe suggested that I contact Liz for some help, and am I ever glad I did! She was professional, thorough, and upbeat from start to finish. Moving out and then moving in proceeded without a hitch thanks to Liz's efficiency and attention to detail. She and her friendly crew did a wonderful job packing my mother's things and preparing her furniture for the trip to Grand Rapids, where they unpacked and set up everything the next morning. How nice it was to be able to walk into her new apartment early that same afternoon and already see a warm and inviting home, with everything in its place. I am truly grateful to Liz for making the entire experience as stress-free as possible, and for freeing up more of my time to attend to my mother's other needs. I would certainly recommend Liz and Seniors Moving Smarter to anyone in a similar situation. Thanks again, Liz!

Thanks again for your help, expertise and efficiency in getting my parents furniture and belongings moved from their home into their new Beacon Hill apartment. The placement and arrangement of their furniture and artwork in their apartment could not have been better. To have them move in and be comfortable in their new home on very first day has really helped my wife and I with a tremendous reduction in our workload. It has allowed us to rest much easier knowing everything has been done perfectly for them. My parents love their new place and the way it looks! With us being from out of town, trying to manage their move has been challenging and you have made our job much easier. You and your staff have been a joy to do business with.

Using "Seniors Moving Smarter" was one of the best decisions I have made. Liz and her team made the process seem very smooth and easy. To walk into my new apartment with everything unpacked, placed and no boxes in sight was a great experience. To crawl into a bed already made was so wonderful. The furniture was thoughtfully arranged, everything was thought of. I greatly appreciated their help and thoughtfulness and the care they gave my belongings.
My family was also very appreciative in that I was so pleased. I would recommend Seniors Moving Smarter to anyone who is faced with a move in later years. It is a wonderful solution to a difficult problem. Thank you Liz and company!

Liz did a tremendous job helping me and my siblings move my parents from their independent living apartment to an assisted living facility. We hired Liz to help us pack my parent's belongings, supervise the movers, and unpack and set everything up in their much smaller new suite. My brother and I planned to sort everything ourselves so the rest of the job would be easy. Hah! The job was WAY bigger than we anticipated, and Liz came in on packing day with the sorting still far from finished, but with only a day to get everything ready for the movers. Liz and her team kept us sane and focused while helping us finish the sorting AND packing. The next day, the move took considerably longer than anyone thought it would, but Liz brought in lots of extra help, worked a very long day for the move, and came back the following morning to finish it. She was efficient and resourceful, and flexible enough to handle the extra work within the tight time constraints we gave her. Liz is also a very nice person. I highly recommend Liz and Seniors Moving Smarter to anyone planning a move.

We really appriciated the services that Liz made in moving my mother. They did an excellent job in regards to all aspects of the move, they had everything wrapped for protection and left the old apartment spotless and had the new apartment all cleaned and ready to move in. We left the old apartment and came to the new later that afternoon and all was done including all the pictures hung, and the furniture all polished. I highly recommend Seriors Moving Smarter to anyone. Thank You Liz for an excellent job.

As always, another GREAT move from Seniors Moving Smarter! Efficient, on-time, very quick--made moving a couple from 3500 sq feet into 1300 sq feet as stress free for them as the move possibly could be. By the end of the move day, our new residents moved into a perfectly set-up home with beds made so they could fall in to them and enjoy a good night’s rest. I highly recommend Seniors Moving Smarter to anyone considering a move. You won’t be disappointed.

As one of 6 adult children moving my Dad to assisted living, using your services was a God-send to us! Your guys were friendly and efficient. When we arrived to put things in Dad's room, the guys set up the furniture just as we wanted it, made sure the TV/cable was hooked up and working, and then they emptied all the boxes we had in three cars and brought them in. Our overwhelming move from one end of town to another was accomplished easily in 3 hours! The price was less than quoted, and well worth every cent!

I love it when I see other professionals that are just as dedicated to eldercare and helping seniors as I am! Liz McCulloch has definitely found her niche and is a blessing to all of us...seniors and professionals alike. I found her on the web, when a client of mine needed to move from Michigan to California. She simplified the whole experience for him, allowing him peace of mind...and sanity if you ask him! She even traveled to California to help him unpack and set up his new home. Thank you, Liz! I've already recommended you to other Horizon Bay professionals across the country!

I downsized from 1400 sq feet to 800 sq feet in another town. Then moved again in 3 months. Seniors Moving Smarter was wonderfully helpful with both moves, helping me to determine which furniture would fit in the new places, packing , moving and resettling everything. At the end of moving day, boxes were empty, beds made and dishes in the cupboard. I think the most touching incident was when I opened my kitchen cupboard and found the dog liver treats recipe taped to the inside, just like it was in my original home! I hope to never move again, but surely won't do it without Liz and company! Thanks, Liz.
